Hannington is a long-time friend of Lara and David, whom they met within days of setting foot in Uganda for the first time. Over the past years, Hannington has been instrumental in helping us achieve our goals with CraftAidUK, and has been an avid supporter. All this combined to make him the obvious choice to look after our interests in-country and he now heads up all the day-to-day business in Uganda, and is always ready to step up to the challenges we set him!
DAVID & LARA BISHOP
Founders of Craft Aid UK
Lara & David founded Craft Aid UK in 2009 after Lara spent four and a half months undertaking volunteer work in Uganda. During this time, Lara was take to a village an hour and a half South West of Uganda's capital, Kampala, and discovered it to be in desperate need of help. Soon after she returned to the UK, Lara & David decided to set up the charity to help this village, and to also to provide support for an existing Ugandan charity for street children that Lara had come across during her time in Kampala.
They both work full time in Television Production by day and use every other spare moment they head up Craft Aid UK, with the support of a team of friends and family both in the UK and in Uganda. This allows the charity to operate on a purely non-profit and volunteer basis, ensuring every penny raised is able to directly benefit those who need it most.
Jeannie is the Secretary of Craft Aid UK and along with Lara, David and Alex she completes the board of directors of the charity. Affectionally known as Jjaja (Grandma) by the former street children she is Lara´s Mum and most importantly the most active fundraiser for Craft Aid UK, not only does she host regular events to raise money for the charity she has also succeeded in spreading the word of Craft Aid UK far and wide helping us secure fundraising for a well for the clinic and also sourcing volunteers to go out to Africa
